Correspondent's life

Choosing a career is one of the most challenging decisions amongst a large number of people. Some of whom make decisions regarding to their careers based on their passions and interests, while the other some based on social factors, in other words, they are forced, or they will not able to earn their livings. As a correspondent, risking his/her life, working abroad to get news from a country whose society is unstable, one simply encounters a great deal of difficulties during his/her work, which is something he/she has to do rather than want to do. One of those difficulties is living far away from home, family, and friends resulted in lacking of warmth, happiness and support even though he/she could earn a big money. Aside from this, gathering information and news from abroad in order for home country, a correspondent’s life is highly at risk. He/she could be killed at anytime during the work, especially in a country being in war or social instability. For instance, as casted in ‘The Killing Field’, a true story based on a civil war in Cambodia, Sydney had left his country and jeopardized himself to absorb every meticulous detail of Khmer Rouge, assisted by a Khmer journalist. Both of whom were determined to work quickly and firmly in their jobs in a way that a minute should not be lost; otherwise, they might have been killed, for they were being threatened by the army. To conclude, being a reporter working in other countries is adventurous, frightening, and dangerous rather than being enjoying and exciting, which only a small number of people are willing to do.
